132 Fab Engineering & Production Update: Caster Spacer Design

At 132 Fab, every design decision is driven by two priorities: consistent product quality and a good customer experience.
As demand for our caster spacers has grown, we reached a point where the limiting factor was not design capability, but manufacturing capacity. Our original welded spacers rely on a single experienced welder to maintain consistent weld quality across every unit. While that approach has worked well, scaling it further would require adding additional personel and as such, variability that is difficult to control in a small production environment.
Rather than expanding welding capacity and accepting that risk, we chose to revise the design itself.
We have transitioned our caster spacers from a welded construction to a bolted assembly. This change allows us to control consistency through process, not talent. High-grade fasteners torqued to a defined specification provide repeatable clamping force, predictable load distribution, and straightforward inspection on every unit, independent of operator technique. This design also significantly reduces labor time. That reduction allows us to move away from the current four-week lead time and ship orders in a matter of days, not weeks. Making that improvement for the customer was a major factor in this decision.
To be fully transparent, the new spacers will ship unassembled. Assembly is straightforward and requires only basic hand tools. Detailed installation instructions and specified torque values are provided to ensure proper performance. Our experience has been that 4 spacers are assembled in under 15 minutes.
This change was not made to reduce cost or compromise strength. Though our calculations conlcude that this design actually out preforms the legacy design, the original welded spacers remain safe and effective when installed properly. This update represents an evolution focused on consistency, scalability, and improved lead times, while maintaining the same performance standards our customers expect.
At this time we are still finalizing the transition and expect to begin fulfilling order soon. In the mean time sign up for back in stock notifications to recieve an email when this updated design releases.
We appreciate the continued trust and support that allows us to keep refining how we build and deliver our products.
